How does a Coriolis mass flowmeter measure the viscosity of a medium

There is no doubt that the Coriolis mass flowmeter can measure viscosity. As is known to all, the basic quantities such as temperature, density and mass flow rate can be obtained through the mass flowmeter, which provides the necessary conditions for measuring the viscosity of the medium.

Today, Aister, a flowmeter manufacturer, is here to introduce to you how mass flowmeters measure the viscosity of media.

Viscosity has a certain mathematical relationship with the above three values. By correcting with a medium of known viscosity, the conversion coefficient should be obtained. By comparing the measured values of the actual medium with the differential pressure value, the viscosity of the medium can be accurately determined.

We can install a differential pressure transmitter at the inlet and outlet of the mass flowmeter to detect the differential pressure value. At this point, all the parameters for calculating or converting the viscosity of the medium are complete.

1. Flow velocity: The volumetric flow rate can be obtained through the mass flow rate and density, and then the flow velocity of the medium is obtained by the apparent conversion aperture of the mass flowmeter.

2. Differential pressure value: Obtained through the differential pressure transmitter;

When the flow rate of a liquid is constant, when it passes through a component with pressure loss, and when the viscosity and temperature of the medium are constant, the differential pressure value is also constant. There must be a certain differential pressure at the inlet and outlet of a mass flowmeter. The change in the differential pressure value can be accurately measured through a differential pressure transmitter.

3. Temperature: The mass flowmeter can accurately measure the temperature.
