How to deal with the failure of ultrasonic level meter in daily work?

When we use the ultrasonic level meter, we must clearly know what factors affect the measurement of the ultrasonic level meter. Today, flowmeter manufacturer Aister instrument will explain the following key factors to you, hoping to help you.

Radar level meter adopts the mode of transmitting – reflecting – receiving. The antenna of the radar level gauge emits electromagnetic waves, and the radar waves travel at the speed of light. After these waves are reflected by the surface of the measured object, they are received by the antenna. The time from transmission to reception of the electromagnetic wave is proportional to the distance to the liquid surface.

Ultrasonic liquid level meter is more and more widely used, ultrasonic liquid level meter is not as good as other contact flow meters, it is inevitable to encounter some doubts in the installation process, today the flow meter manufacturer Aister tells you a few points about the installation of ultrasonic liquid level meter, hope to help you.

Ultrasonic level meter in the use of possible problems, we can take the following measures:

Ultrasonic level meter in the use of possible problems, we can take the following measures:

In the process of use, we generally call the sound wave with a frequency of more than 20kHz ultrasonic wave, ultrasonic wave is a kind of mechanical wave, that is, mechanical vibration in the elastic medium in a propagation process, it is characterized by high frequency, short wavelength, small diffraction phenomenon, and good directivity, can become a ray and directional propagation.

The transmission of sound waves requires a medium, so they cannot travel in a vacuum. Therefore, the limitations of ultrasonic level meter in practical application are still very large, and there are many shortcomings compared with radar level meter.

Troubleshooting of ultrasonic liquid level meter:

1. Instrument specifications (determine power supply form and range)

2. Use temperature and pressure

3. Measured substance (liquid, solid, name)

4. Installation site (indoor and outdoor)

5. Container structure (closed container, pool, bunker, height, width, container material)

6. Installation method and position (flange, support, opening size, flange nozzle length, whether to add pipe)

7. Fault symptoms (correct level value, incorrect value displayed, installation height, etc.)

The ultrasonic level meter is mainly used to measure the liquid level of the liquid medium, but it can also be applied to the level measurement of some solid media. These liquid media can include water, oil, chemical liquids, solutions, etc. The working principle of the ultrasonic level meter is to determine the distance between the liquid surface and the sensor by transmitting the ultrasonic pulse and measuring the time of its echo, so as to calculate the liquid level.

Ultrasonic level meters are usually widely used in industrial fields, such as chemical, pharmaceutical, water treatment, food and beverage production. Their non-contact measurement characteristics make them suitable for use in environments where corrosive or hazardous liquid media may be present, as well as where remote monitoring is required. This level measuring device provides accurate measurements while avoiding direct contact with the medium, reducing the risk of contamination and maintenance.

Ultrasonic level meter  is based on the Time-of-Flight principle.  A sensor emits ultrasonic pulses, the surface of the media reflects the signal and the sensor detects it again.  The Time-of-Flight of the reflected ultrasonic signal is directly proportional to the distance traveled.  With the known tank geometry the level can be calculated.

Ultrasonic level meter for continuous level measurement of liquids or bulk solids.  Typical applications are the measurement of liquids in storage tanks or open basins.  The sensor is also suitable for the detection of bulk solids in small vessels or open containers.  The non-contact measuring principle is independent of product features and allows a setup without medium.
